Close to 1,200 hotels involved and 1.7 million trees financed

At the project’s mid-way point, Accor has already exceeded its forecasts:
Out of the 3 million trees targeted for 2012, 1.7 million have been financed.
Lenôtre takes action for Earth Day
April 22, 2011 Lenôtre rallied in favour of the Plant for the Planet project to celebrate Earth Day. In Senegal, for each of Lenôtre’s 1,000 employees, a tree will be planted in the framework of the project sponsored by the SOS SAHEL NGO.
Accor VIP guests finance 12,500 trees in Brazil
February 10th 2011 For the Christmas holidays, the Accor Global Sales Department gave its VIP guests an original gift: a donation of 25,000 euros was made on their behalf to the Nordesta NGO, which allowed the planting of 12,500 trees along the São Francisco River in Brazil. Each guest received a certificate and a brochure presenting the project’s multiple benefits in favour of the environment and local populations.
35 hotels participate in Plant for the Planet in Asia
January 12th 2011 The number of hotels in Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore that are participating in Plant for the Planet has increased: there are now 35 of them financing the reforestation project in Java. A trip to the planting site was organised by Accor Talents and the Human Resources Department in November 2010 in order to increase the project’s visibility and raise the awareness of the 150 employees participating in the trip.

On April 22, 2010 – Earth Day – Accor has announced that it has crossed an initial threshold in the deployment of its Plant for the Planet project. To date, 1,000 hotels have financed the planting of one million trees worldwide.

1000 hotels engaged within a year

For the 3rd Earth Guest day, Accor has reaffirmed its commitment to reforestation. To be held this year on April 22, Earth Guest day is a Group-wide initiative that aims to involve employees in sustainable development projects. By April 2010, some 1,000 Accor hotels will be actively involved in Plant for the Planet: the Billion Tree Campaign, an initiative launched last year in association with the United Nations Environment Program.
