Our ambition

Accor and the Earth Guest program for sustainable development

European leader in hotels, world leader in services, Accor operates in nearly 100 countries with more than 150,000 staff.

In 2006, Accor launched the Earth Guest program, which federates all the Group's social and environmental actions around eight priorities, focused on two fields: EGO, for social projects, and ECO for environmental priorities.

EGO Issues

  • Local development: Supporting the economic development of local communities via partners signed up for the long term, and promoting fair trade.
  • Child protection: Training staff and raising customer awareness to combat the sexual exploitation of children in tourism.
  • Healthcare: Preventing and combating large epidemics, in particular AIDS and malaria.
  • Nutrition: Helping customers choose balanced diets, to prevent obesity in particular.

ECO Issues

  • Energy: Promoting renewable energy sources, improving energy efficiency and reducing climate impact by using more efficient appliances and rigorous planning.
  • Water: Equipping hotels with water-flow regulators, recycling waste water and raising staff and customer awareness.
  • Refuse: Recycling more and better, limiting the quantity of refuse produced.
  • Biodiversity: Implementing management practices and green spaces that respect biodiversity and raising staff and customer awareness, in partnership with associations.

Accor is thus working every day to achieve its goal in sustainable development: Mobilizing its 150,000 staff, millions of customers and thousands of suppliers and partners, to respect the planet and the welfare of all who live on it.
