Our ambition

Our expert, Kinomé

Accor has linked up with the forest specialist Kinomé

Planting a tree means nothing if it dies within a year. This is why Accor has called on Kinomé, a company specialized in "integrated" reforestation, supporting tree planting in the long term and linking up with the local population.

Kinomé is responsible for putting in place reforestation programs. As part of this, Kinomé has identified seven projects that offer benefits:

  • Environmental (eg: fixing dunes thanks to tree roots),
  • Economic (eg: selling honey produced from planted forests),
  • Social, for local populations (eg: planting done by pupils and providing training).

The experience and long-standing of the associations, their ability to run large-scale projects, the number of trees already planted, the added value created for local communities, the link between planting activities and conservation of water resources, were decisive criteria in selecting the seven associations to run the projects.

Kinomé will also spend one week per year on the ground per project to monitor the plantings.

Kinomé

KINOMECreated in 2005, Kinomé's mission is to help reverse global deforestation within 10 years by reforestation projects, and projects to preserve existing forests. In partnership with companies, local communities, associations, and scientific bodies, Kinomé is developing innovative, profitable and ethical solutions for multifunctional productive forests (fruit, wood, energy, charcoal, soil, biodiversity, honey, medicinal drugs, etc) to meet the problems of our time and create concrete programs for reforestation or avoid deforestation. Kinomé places man at the heart of these forest projects, as the key to success in the sustainable production and protection of forests, as well as in encouraging communities to adapt to climate change. Kinomé operates in three countries of the Sahel, in Brazil, as well as in France, particularly in wood energy problems.
