The "Plant for the Planet" project asks hotels to fund tree planting via the savings from customers using their towels for more than one night. The Accor Group hotels are turning this symbolic gesture into a real benefit by saying to their customers: "Here, YOUR towels are planting trees. In this hotel, five towels reused = one tree planted"
Special training has been put in place, for housekeepers and service workers in particular.
50 hotels worldwide, all brands, have been pioneering this since April 2008.
The Group's 4,000 hotels will be progressively implementing this project from 2009.
Accor Services and CWL have also identified environmental practices that can generate savings with the help of its staff and customers. These adjuncts to the Plant for the Planet project in these business divisions should start to see light of day from the end of 2009.
